What is Deforestation?
Deforestation is permanent destruction of forest and trees. Deforestation is a huge risk to all things, living and non living. About 18 million acres of forest land are destroyed each year. This usually happens in tropical rain forests, such as Brazil, Indonesia, parts of Africa, and Eastern Europe. Deforestation takes away animal habitats. Half the world's tropical forests have been destroyed. Humans cut down trees to make buildings and paper. Trees are a big part of the global climate, the average temperature of a certain area, change. They absorb greenhouse gasses, and they produce oxygen. Trees also help the water cycle by releasing water vapor, water in a gas form, into the atmosphere, air. Here are some different ways that YOU can stop deforestation from happening.
This is what deforestation looks like. When the people are done cutting down the trees, there will probably be a bunch of buildings.
